But Darmoth was trying to play tug-o-war with his stuffed bunny, even as he was in the emergency room, strapped to a board and largely paralyzed; his Mommies knew he wanted to live! And lo and behold, within months of his reconstructive surgery Darmoth was scooting all over the place. More than five years later, Darmoth is a poster-puppy for "quality of life." Although he has had paraplegia since the injury, nothing can slow this dog down. Darmoth chooses to reject wheel-carts and instead uses his massive upper-body strength to get around. Darmoth loves to run, hike, swim, play with dogs, ride in the car, and especially give puppy love to those in need. Darmoth frequents animal-related benefit events, and has earned a reputation among animal-lovers everywhere who have been inspired by his courage and love of life. Darmoth is a licenced Therapy Dog through the Delta Society, and together with his Mommies brings his inspiring story and winning smile to people everywhere. Darmoth especially loves visiting children and helping raise awareness about animals and people with disabilities. More information from a creative "dog's eye view" about Darmoth, along with photos and video clips, can be found on his LIVE JOURNAL. |
